Geoff, Definately go down the VAST line. Aurora is on the rapid slide to it's demise in December next year. Also as others have said don't buy any other box (at this stage - new ones might come on the market in time) then the UEC 4121 or UEC 4121 PVR as these are the only ones that will work with the VAST system.
Also the smartcards in these boxes are not available for purchase seperately. Rightly or wrongly, these cards come with the 4121 box, they are 'married' to the box so the cards themselves will not work in any other high definition box including another 4121 box. So in short, a VAST package is what you want. The subscription for travellers is available for six months at a time and you simply renew it as you are approaching six months each time via a simple online form.
This is free. You can also change the region you are travelling in (ie WA, QLD, NT etc) simply via a phone call to VAST or an email. The good bit about VAST is that you get pretty much most of the same programming you will see in the capital cities, including essentially the same channels (A few differences due to being a regional system but essentially the same). Cheers Wayne.
Hi Jeffsa; The service that your satilight receiver is picking up, well that service will be turned off in 2014. The only way to get television after that will be by useing a Altech DSD4121 receiver. This is the only unit at the moment that is able to pick up the Vast television service and has a smart card that comes with the unit and ONLY works with the receiver that comes with the card. Loose the card and you have to purchese a nother satilight receiver and that unit will come with a new card. The only good thing with your set up would possablbly be the dish and lmb. The rest sounds like it would make good boat ballist.
